GEOTHERMAL CORE

If you want to get the plasma beam before Thardus, you'll have to reach the ice door at the top of this room without the spider ball.

Go to the spinner with the spider ball track, the third spinner. Take a close look at the track after raising the spinner and you should notice a bump in the track; get on it and then turn around so Samus has her back against it.

Now, l-lock the view and move back against the track until Samus stops moving. Then jump with it still locked and while still pressing against the track; when Samus nears the peak of her jump (or reaches it), use your second jump and move forward as far as you can go. The goal is to go over the spinner and land on the top part of it.

Once you've done that, go over to the bomb slot at the top of the second spinner and place a bomb in it to reveal the gigantic spider ball track. The metal line running across the room is what you'll want to find now. You can reach it by space jumping off the edge of the spinner. The below picture shows the area you want to land.

You should have landed right under the three blocks at the end of the track; go over to the lowest one. This is the part people usually have trouble with. You have to space jump on the block, but you can't do it with just any kind of space jump. In order to get enough height to land on the block, you have to move in different ways at different times during your jumps. I've tried a lot of methods, but there's one that I can make the jump many times in a row with. It works very consistently for me, and hopefully will work for you too.

The first thing to do is make sure you're both facing the block and close to it, and that your view of the room is like this picture when looking straight up.

When ready, l-lock the view and keep it locked until you land on the block. Now jump against the wall but move away almost right after it starts. The only reason you're doing this is to get a short burst of height. Move left from the wall and start toward the block, aiming for the knob on it. Use your second jump and continue toward the knob; as soon as you pass over it, you want to move to the right and land on the block.

This whole maneuver, starting from your first jump, resembles moving in a letter C but starting from the bottom half of the letter. The idea is that you jump to the right and against the wall, move left, move forward to the knob (using your second jump on the way to it), then going to the right so that you land on the block after passing over it.

After landing on the block, the rest is nothing. L-lock the view again and space jump on the second block, then space jump to the ice door. You can also go on the third block if you want to be closer to the door before jumping to it.

I realize that explanation for the first block might be a bit long-winded, so if you'd rather see it done instead of reading text, check out the video I made.
