GRAVITY SUIT BEFORE THARDUS

There isn't much to getting the gravity suit early, you just need the ice beam. Once you do, you have to get to the far side of Phendrana which starts at Frozen Pike. You can get to Frozen Pike two ways; the most obvious one is to go to Research Core in the research labs, which is the room with the thermal visor. At the bottom of the room is an ice door. Sound familiar? That door is probably one that everyone wondered what was ahead of when they saw it their first time through the game, but couldn't see since they didn't have the ice beam then. Go through that door to end up at Frozen Pike; from here, just get the gravity suit as usual.

The other way to reach Frozen Pike is from the elevator behind Thardus, called Transport to Magmoor Caverns South. To get to that elevator without fighting Thardus however, you'll have to take a path through Magmoor that starts at Twin Fires Tunnel. Get through it without the spider ball and continue until you reach Magmoor Workstation; take the wave door in that room to end up at the elevator which will take you up to Phendrana.

Now use the very simple trick to reach the ice door without the spider ball, and go through the door to end up at the top of Frozen Pike. If you use the Twin Fires Tunnel path to get here, you could also pick up the plasma beam on the way if desired (unless playing the PAL version), since you pass by Geothermal Core.

Oddly, the gravity suit's morph ball graphic will actually be the same one as the power/varia suit's, until you get the spider ball.
