* Get the ice beam early, then use it to enter the frigate and go through it to the mines. Continue until you reach Ore Processing. Get to the third floor without the spider ball and go through the ice door to Elevator Access A, then get the power bomb as usual.

* Get the ice beam early, then use it to enter the frigate and go through it to the mines. Use a dash jump in Main Quarry to reach Waste Disposal without the grapple beam. When you enter Ore Processing you'll start at the very top of the room, the fourth floor, negating the need to do anything special to reach the third floor without the spider ball; just jump down to the third floor and get the power bomb as usual.

* Get the ice beam early and either of the two power bomb expansions that don't require the power bomb itself or another expansion (the Phendrana's Edge and Ice Ruins West ones). Use the expansion to enter the mines from the back elevator in Magmoor, which will start you off in Phazon Processing Center. Go through the ice door in the middle of the room and use another power bomb in the small tunnel ahead. You'll enter Elite Control from the back; now just get the power bomb as usual.

So how do you leave the mines after getting the power bomb? You have to exit through Phazon Processing Center and get to the top without the spider ball. It seems that there isn't a way to leave through Main Quarry because of the two rooms with the huge vertical spider ball tracks (Research Access and Elevator Access A). It doesn't matter though, since you can use Phazon Processing Center to leave the mines.
