.SamusAranLuverNOTE: the portal probly dosen't active because it wont let you go th the sky temple entrance early but its there for when you escape there is some sence but still the should make a shiled around it or something so it dosent make retro look cheap.

Vincent Core: If you scan the portal, it will tell you that it will not allow you to enter it because it is unstable. It doesn't really make a whole lot of sense because you use it without any trouble at the end, but it's a plot boulder, it isn't supposed to make sense.

Jason: Maybe it's unstable because of the phazon covering the other side. When you use it at the end, the phazon is gone.
