If you have the second player in the game look at the other player shooting from another angle, you can plainly see that you ''aren't'' hitting Tallon IV but an invisible wall that sits between you and the planet. Also, is the fact that if you shoot anything outside of the area where there is nothing but empty space, you still hit that same wall. Furthermore, is the fact that the planet must be extremely far away and Samus' arm cannon was not designed for and therefore cannot reach a planet from a Space Station which orbits it.

If you have the second player in the game look at the other player shooting from another angle, you can plainly see that you aren't hitting Tallon IV, but an invisible wall that sits between you and the end of the room. Also, there is the effect that if you shoot anything outside of the area where there is nothing but empty space, you will hit that same wall.
