The ultimate fusion of bomb and jump techniques, the BSJ allows you to effectively gain an extra jump's worth of height. To perform a BSJ:

1) Do a Morphed Bomb Jump

2) When you unmorph in mid air after the bomb jump it must be an "instant unmorph" which immediately puts you into first person instead of zooming in from 3rd person view.

3) If you get an instant unmorph, then you can immediately perform any jump technique as if you were standing on the ground.

The end result is you get about an extra jump's worth of height before you even start jumping. Making a space jump 3 jumps high, a screw attack jump 4 jumps high, etc.

2) Perform a "Kip Dash" to cross the gap and spawn on the opposite ledge.

Note: The exact distance Samus must physically cross to terminal fall onto the opposite ledge is anywhere beyond the grapple point on the opposite ledge(this holds true if going back the opposite way). This works out to having to cross roughly 3/4 of the distance across the pit. The time at which the game records how far you made it, is when the little tiny white crosshairs disappear on the screen, not when the white flash happens(the crosshairs disappear slightly less than a second before the white flash of the TF)

Second Note:You can pinpoint Samus's *exact* location on the map by looking at the green arrow. Samus is physically in the very center of the arrow. IE if you drew a line from the tip of the arrow to the flat of the tail, she would be in the exact middle of that line.

3) You can now proceed to Watch Station and the Screw Attack.

Note: If you do this before Spiderball, you must use a technique discovered by Sparky to bypass Watch Station. You can stand on a Rezbit when their shields are active. Use this to jump up to the spider ball track. One the very left of the lower track, you can stand on the lower portion. Then jump to the higher track to the right, and face the room with your back to the wall. Jump backwards towards the morph ball slot and MAM(mid-air morph) into the slot. If you get spiderball before screw attack, simply proceed as normal once you enter watch station. (You can also face the bomb slot and jump forwards, then MAM)

Second Note:You can pinpoint Samus's *exact* location on the map by looking that the green arrow.

Requirements: Early Screw Attack and Spiderball.

1) Get both the Spiderball and Early Screw Attack.

2) Now go to Sanctuary entrance(where Dark Samus destroys the bridge).

3) Jump on the crate to your right when facing away from sanctuary.

4) Now jump on the pole to your left when facing away from sanctuary.

5) Screw attack to the platform below the turret.

6) Jump up into the Spiderball glass ring below the turret.

7) Screw attack back towards sanctuary and into the glass room with the scan pole(this is the room you would normally access by breaking the glass with a powerbomb).

8) Scan the pole, jump onto it, then jump out of the glass room.

9) Use the morph ball cannon to shoot back up and reach the turret to the right of the bridge.

10) Now proceed as you normally would: destroy the rock wall above sanctuary and above the door on the other side, and the debris to the right of sanctuary's entrance. Then Drop down, spider up to the top of Sanctuary, and screw attack or morph ball cannon across to get the expansion.

Important notes:

- Getting the PB expansion only gives you 1 power bomb

- You still must defeat the PB guardian and obtain the main PB expansion later on for the sky temple key in Dark Agon: Dark Oasis to appear. This trick is still handy for getting PB's early and avoid backtracking until sky temple key collection.

A demonstration of obtaining the PB expansion early by Kip

----

Another way to get early PB without Spider Ball discovered by Frozen Mr. Toastbrot

-Video needed

To get to the PB Expansion is somehow tricky, as you need to get a maximum height for some Screw Attacks. Anyway here's how I did it.
First activate the turret. Then Screw Attack onto the floating platform with the morph ball cannon and space jump onto the upper ring again. Now look at the door leading to the elevator. There is a tall rock left of it, with a plain surface and some mechanical stuff left of it. Screw Attack onto that rock and face the floating platform again. Now is where the fun begins. Use the mechanical stuff next to the rock to get a ghetto effect for the space jump before starting a screw attack to the upper part of the floating platform. If you're very lucky, you'll make it onto the floating platform. If you're not that lucky, you'll hit the "fence" of the platform, fall down and respawn at the top part of the plattform. If you're not lucky at all, you'll respawn at the lower part of the platform. Once on the upper part of the platform use the turret to destroy the stone in front of the PB Expansion. Then turn to see the platform with the dead Luminoth. Jump onto the fence and do a Screw Attack over to the platform. You'll need to get a maximum of height out of the Screw Attack, otherwise you'll bounce of and fall. If you did it correctly, you'll hit the edge of the platform and slip over it. Now you can Screw Attack over to the PB Expansion.

Note: You will still need to get the spiderball first before attempting this alternate method as the turret is only active when DS destroys the bridge, which is triggered by getting spiderball.

Grapple Beam

- Only needed for the room prior to the Vault(room you get Screw Attack in). Methods have been found to bypass all other grapple points.

- Alternatively, skip screw attack(as described below) and solve reaching the energy controller room in sanctuary temple.

Screw Attack

- Needed in Ing Hive Temple, to obtain an Ing Hive Key, to obtain the Sky Temple Key in Ing Hive Entrance, and to reach Emperor Ing.

Gravity Boost

- Dark Tovus Key 2 prevents this skip. Either reaching Sanctuary early, defeating the PB Guardian without spider ball, reaching the dark world portal without gravity boost then leaving light torvus without gravity boost, or secret worlding to the key are the only known possible and plausible solutions to reaching the key without gravity boost.

update: PB after dark suit is now possible using a Secret World in Feeding pit. It is still too early to tell, but Grav Boost can be likely skipped this way. But not for lower % due to the nature of needing the main PB expansion(see below) and extra e-tanks.

Seeker Missiles

- Gates blocking the path from Torvus to Sanctuary. These include Sacred Bridge, and the second room past Sanctuary Entrance. You can not see the seeker targets for these gates without dark visor; however, you can damage seeker targets without dark visor on.

- Accursed Lake and Reliquary Sky Temple Keys

Echo Visor

- Needed only to disable the sonic locks enroute to Quadraxis. Quadraxis, Dark Samus 3/4, and the Ing Hive key in watch station can all be reached/beaten without using echo visor.

Boost Ball

- Needed to enter sanctuary(1st room in Sanc.) and break the window to reach the Echo Visor/Dark Samus 2 fight.

Annihilator Beam

- Only the doors in Ing Hive temple prevent this item from being skipped. However, bypassing them will likely only be done via secret worlds.

Spiderball

- Needed for various rooms still, PB Guardian, and potentially Emperor Ing form 2. Not needed for Quadraxis.

Dark Visor

- Needed to see and damage Ing Hive Caches holding sky temple keys. Summised they only exist when the dark visor is on in a manner akin to how Omega Pirate is only damagable when X-ray is on in Metroid Prime 1.

- Also needed for seekers to lock on to dark world viewable seeker targets.

Light/Dark Beams, PBs, Super Missiles, Missiles, Bombs, Space Jump, Light Suit

- All needed in multiple locations. Chance of skipping these is likely 0.

Translator Doors

- Great Temple, Agon, and torvus translators required to reach later areas. Sanctuary translator currently needed to reach spiderball region.

Notes:

- The only known "skippable" required item(that counts as %) is the Dark Suit but requires additional energy tank pickups to complete the game. Thus, higher percent completion when skipped.

- Amorbis, and therefore the dark agon keys can be skipped when skipping the dark suit.

- Returning the energy to Agon and Torvus can be skipped(but not Sanctuary for that triggers light suit).

- The keys for the Ing Hive also have the potential to be skipped if you can get over the ing hive key gate blocking you from quadraxis.

- The caretaker drone can be skipped by getting screw attack early.

- The PB guardian can be put off till later if you get screw attack and therefor a pb expansion early, but it must be beaten eventually to have the Sky Temple key in Dark Oasis spawn. update: same rule should apply to feeding pit expansion obtained after darksuit via secret worlds.

Echo Visor

Boost Ball

Notes:

- Amorbis, and therefore the dark agon keys can be skipped when skipping the dark suit.

- Returning the energy to Agon and Torvus can be skipped(but not Sanctuary for that triggers light suit).

- The keys for the Ing Hive also have the potential to be skipped if you can get over the ing hive key gate blocking you from quadraxis.

- The caretaker drone can be skipped by getting screw attack early.

- Only the doors in Ing Hive temple prevent this item from being skipped. However, bypassing them will likely only be done via secret worlds.

Spiderball

- Needed for various rooms still and potentially Quadraxis and Emperor Ing form 2

Dark Visor

- Needed to see and damage Ing Hive Caches holding sky temple keys. Summised they only exist when the dark visor is on in a manner akin to how Omega Pirate is only damagable when X-ray is on in Metroid Prime 1.

Sanctuary translator currently needed to reach spiderball region.

note: only known "skippable" required item is the Dark Suit but requires additional energy tank pickups to complete the game.

Discovered By: Kip

Floaty Jump is the result of a strange glitch Kip uncovered during a fight with Chykka Larva.

Floaty Jump gives all your jump techniques a super "floaty" effect to them. It is almost like having an in game AR moonjump. You can jump for incredibly long or high distances.

To give yourself "Floaty Jump" do the following:

1) When going to fight Chykka Larva in Dark Torvus Bog, before you free it's coccoon from the wall, stand in the dark water.

2) If you are standing in the dark water when you break the final strand holding the coccoon to the wall, you will be granted Floaty Jump.

There is a catch however:

- Floaty Jump will no longer work if you touch regular water, dark water, or take an elevator to other areas.

So, it's usefulness is limited at the moment since you are restricted to Torvus and Dark Torvus Bog post Chykka, and you can not touch any water.

It is summised at this point that the floaty jump is granted by triggering a cutscene that moves you when standing in dark water. Something about the repellent effect of dark water before you get the light suit gives you this super jump if you are moved by a scripted cutscene out of dark water. But, so far no other cutscenes, other than the one with Chykka Larva, have been found where you are able to stand in dark water before a cutscene plays. So the assumption of "how" this trick works is thin at best.

To see an example of floaty jump in action, refer to "Where's Chykka?" which demonstrates how you can make Chykka disapear by using floaty to leave the room during the boss fight.

But, so far no other cutscenes other than the one with Chykka Larva have been found, where you are able to stand in dark water and trigger a cutscene. So the assumption of "how" this trick works is thin at best.

To see an example of floaty jump in action, refer to "Where's Chykka?" which demonstrates how you can make Chykka disapear by using floaty to leave the room during the boss fight.

1) Break the coccoon, and get Floaty Jump.

2) Scan it at the beginning.

3) Immediately after scanning, missile the dark spinners, and charge the light beam.

4) Track chykka until he goes under water, then prepare to fire the charge when he rises. You should hit with all 5 parts of the beam if you are close enough.

5) Then charge power and super missile when he jumps in the air.

6) Charge power again and search for chykka. He should rise a little at some point, so shoot him with the charge then switch to light and wait for him to go under and then up again.

7) Shoot him with light now only this time, however, he tongues. Afaik, it's fastest to hit him with two charge lights, plus a few normal lights to stun him, and then super him.

8) Repeat that second part for the next two phases. he jumps the third time, and tongues the fourth.

This really doesnt save too much time; but, it is easy anyway, so why not use it. The time it saves comes from the third phase. If done normally, Chykka Larva would jump twice, but you would have a four round battle anyway. This time it only jumps once. However, if it did somehow jump twice (which I have never gotten), it could be a three round battle...

Chykka Adult

<ul><li>On the Chykka Adult's light form, jump out into the water and fire normal dark shots at point-blank. It only takes 3-4 to stun it. <i>Discovered by Red Scarlet</i>
<li>Once the adult is stunned, seeker missile his back. It takes two missiles to break each target - that's two rounds only, instead of four.
<li>On dark chykka, simply nail it's eggsac with charged light shots. If need be, shoot the Chykklings with the dark beam to get light ammo.
</ul>

Notes:
<ul><li>For pointless fun with Chykka, see "Where's Chykka?"</li></ul>
1) To get from DS3 to DS4, you must first take off 1/4 of DS's life bar.

2) The ideal weapon to use is Annihilator as it does significant damage. But if you are out of one or both ammo types, any other beam/charged beam will work. Annihilator regular shots can drop her to 75% health in about 10 seconds though.

3) Be sure not to attempt to damage her when she has a glowing "blue shield" around her, as you will not be able to hit her. Easiest is when she is stealthed and only visable via the echo visor.

Weapon of Choice: Charged Power Beam, Super Missiles

1) DS has two different phases in this form: "Bubble mode" and "Not in Bubble mode"

2) Bubble Mode consists of 2 different attacks

- giant blue/white homing phazon particles that she randomly shoots

- small blue/white snowflakes that she shoots out of the top of the bubble towards you whenever her bubble expands

3) When she is in bubble mode, there is one wall in the room that does not have phazon against it. Back yourself up against the wall to give yourself room.

4) Begin charging your power beam while she is in bubble mode. Use dash jumps to the left and right to easily dodge the large phazon particles she shoots at you.

5) When she unleashes the "snowflakes" in bubble mode, you must suck 3 in like a vaccuum with your charging power beam.

6) Once you have 3 snowflakes sucked in, your charge will glow blue and sparkle. Quickly shoot that at Dark Samus to damage her lifebar.

7) Eventually her bubble will shrink and she will float to the ground. The instant she begins to stand up from her crouch, fire a Super missile at close range. This will instantly force her back into bubble mode.

8) Should you miss with the super missile when she lands, damage from any beam(annihilator prefered) can force her back into bubble mode again.

Now repeat this until you finally beat her. It takes approximately 5 to 6 snowflake powered charge beams in bubble mode to finish her on normal difficulty.

A morphed bomb jump is done by unmorphing in mid-air after a bomb jump. If done with proper timing immediately after the last bomb hits the morph ball, you can change into regular Samus and get an extra "pop" into the air, giving you additional height.

This technique can be used with nearly all types of bomb jumps and can be done after a Laddered Bomb Jump.

Discovered by: Solr_Flare, Kip, Sess, others

The 3bj is one of the few surviving advanced bomb techniques from the original Metroid Prime that is present in Echoes. It was born initially out of the search for a way to complete the Geothermal room in Metroid Prime without Space Jump. The bomb jump works by using the physics of the Metroid Prime games to "build momentum" with additional bomb explosions.

The best way to describe a 3bj is its a double bomb jump with an extra bomb and different timing to place the second bomb. Here is how its done:

1) Place the first bomb on the ground.

2) The instant the first bomb goes off place the second bomb.

3) Near the height of your jump place the third, then fouth bombs.

4) You will then fall down as the second bomb goes off, sending you up into the third then fourth bombs as they go off.

Basically it makes it into a dbj only you have 2 bombs in the air instead of one. So you get a little bit of an extra push.

Also, like most bomb jumps, the 3bj can be done as a Morphed Bomb Jump and/or a Laddered Bomb Jump.

A variation of the 3bj is the TRHbj which involves different timing for placing the bombs.
