Radix: Reverted edit of JumpR, changed back to last version by Copperandterence

Discovered by: Several people

The LOL Jump can be applied in a very difficult manner (harder, I think, than ghetto'ing in Industrial Site, but oh well) to actually skip the Alpha Blogg fight altogether, saving at the very least a minute or so. To do it, solve the puzzles like normal and go get the Gravity Boost, then go and enter the fight. After that, do these things:

Lock on and stay behind or to the side of the Blogg, if you can. You want to be in a position where he can't easily turn and fire sonic blasts, or charge.
Press Z to locate the exit door, or look around for the ledge high on the wall.
You want to LOL Jump off the Alpha Blogg when it's to the side of this ledge; do it while it's swimming under the ledge, and chances are you won't be able to recover in time to not bonk your head.
This is where it gets very tricky. Doing this jump off of stationary objects is easy, but the Alpha Blogg is a fairly quick creature, and you have to time it exactly right. If your Visor doesn't tilt down like you're moving over the boss, your jump won't carry you high enough to pull this off.
If you successfully can manage this jump, use your added boost (try to time it yourself; when you start to settle back down, quickly punch B to activate your hover), and float up to the ledge. From there, float to the next highest ledge and exit.
Now continue on like normal. Skipping Alpha Blogg has no adverse effects on the game (it did lock up once for me inside Sanctuary Fortress, but I don't think this was a result of the skip), as I completed a full 100% game with the boss skip.

Copperandterence, please stop modifying all of our content; it is correct already. What you're doing is mostly giving credit to people who do not deserve it. You posted credit for me and others discovering Torvus Bog Early. Honestly, I don't deserve the credit, and I bet a whole bunch of other people don't either. In addition, you've been posting: (a) content that has already been discovered; (b) non-content articles; and (c) content that doesn't even relate to the proper video game (Metroid Prime 2 Echoes). Copperandterence, it's not just you, but others as well, and I'd like to remind them of this as well; please post appropriate content and make sure you review it.

Ryu for the application (allowed me to get screenshots of a video)

PART I:

The first part is pretty easy. Simply bomb the Spider Guardian twice so he turns green, then get to the right side and do a DBJ where the red dots are. That way, you'll reach the bomb slot (yellowish dots) faster than going all the way around to the left.

http://membres.lycos.fr/zell99/mp2/zell_sg_1.jpg

PART II:

The easiest way I found to defeat this part is to get on the ledge on the right side and drop down (red dots) laying bombs when the SG is coming towards you. Do that twice and, when he turns green, just boost to the left side, get on the platform and bomb the slot (yellow dots).

http://membres.lycos.fr/zell99/mp2/zell_sg_2.jpg

PART III:

This part is really easy if you know what to do. Simply boost on the top part from the left. Drop down the opening and land on the block where the red dots are. When you hug the right wall, SG's shield won't hurt you. You just have to get near the left ledge and lay bombs when he comes by to hurt him. Before he goes away, bomb him a second time to get him green. Then simply fall left on the platform that appeared and bomb the slot (yellow dots).

http://membres.lycos.fr/zell99/mp2/zell_sg_3.jpg

PART IV:

No special strategy here. I bomb the slots from bottom to top but it doesn't really matter. If you need more time just get back down and bomb the spider guardian again.

TIP: Zoom out while bombing the Guardian. When the slots are activated, zoom in for better precision while bomb jumping to the other slots. This is especially crucial in part 4, where passage on the right side is messed up by perspective when zoomed out, often making you go too far right.

TIP: After triggering the slots bomb the guardian so that he glows red; this makes him go faster, saving you time.

AURAS:

RED: Fast and small, happens when you bomb the Guardian but not enough to trigger the slots.

BLUE: Medium speed and medium size, normal aura

GREEN: Slow and huge, happens when you trigger the slots

------
More Stage 4 Tips: (Added by Ummeiko but probably found out by many others as well - feel free to edit or remove if desired)

Whenever you bomb the bottom of the three slots, make sure the guardian is to the right of the gate that drops down. If the guardian touches that gate from either side when it is down, all of the gates will be reset. Thus, when bombing more than one slot, it is best to save the bottommost slot for last, to ease up on the amount of time available (especially if your bomb jumps aren't always perfect). If you're fast enough, it doesn't matter the order, but this method gives you a bit more leeway.

It is possible to boost across the gaps on the second and third levels. Do this to save time.

Remember that the Guardian's shield can go through the walls and platforms (especially when he's green), knocking you off course and doing damage. If you're on the second level (where the lowest bomb slot is) the guardian CAN hit you, unless you are above the two spots where the floor dips down and the platforms are thicker.

----

You don't have to wait till he puts back up his shield to bomb him, simply bomb him while he's stunned. This method is useful in first and last stages
tip by: rodent347

If someone ever figures out how to get the Power Bombs before this guy (I'm not sure if it has already been done yet or not), DO NOT USE THEM ON THE GUARDIAN! The Spider Ball Guardian will do that 'incinerated' thing that everything else does when you PB it and it goes away forever without destroying the energy blocker things. You'd be stuck, Spider Ball-less and have to shut off the cube...just like I had to do for the second time...
<vanishes to attempt to make up my lost work for the third time>

------

If your having trouble with the final 3 pylons try bombing the slots in the order of middle, top, then bottom. After he turns green you bomb jump up to the middle slot, bomb it, and then boost over the gap and bomb the highest one. If you have messed up a jump badly go down to where the gaurdian is and bomb him again to gain time. once u get to the third, roll left and fall to the bottom, bomb jump up one level, and hit the slot when the gaurdian is on the right side of the platform. This might take a few tries, but middle top bottom was the easiest way for me.
BoostR

It is possible to perform a jump providing more horizontal distance than a straightforward space jump by scanning an object and holding R. You need to start with the object unscanned and scan it during the jump, so unlike the "Kip Dash", there is no screen freeze. It is also possible to do this trick off scannable objects that are beyond your scanning range. The jump goes something like this:

Face the object you wish to use for the scan; unlike the dash jumps in the original Prime, how far away from the scan point you are doesn't seem to have an effect on the distance you travel, so you can R-dash off objects that are right under your nose. In this example, the place you are trying to reach is assumed to be to your left; obviously to dash to your right, just reverse everything.

Hold L to begin the scan.

As soon as the scan starts, push the stick left to strafe in the direction of your target and tap B for the dash.

Shortly after you tap B for the dash (basically straight away), press and hold R all the way down.

At an appropriate point, tap B again for the space jump. Continue to hold L and R and the stick left.

You may wish to change the position of the control stick during the second jump depending on how close to the scannable object you started. If the object was right under your nose at the start of the dash (as in the Torvus Bog: Great Bridge speed trick), you will probably now have your back facing towards the target platform, so you can get extra distance by rotating the stick to the down position for the second jump. If the scannable object was far away (as in the Dark Torvus Bog: Undertemple Shaft speed trick), you should probably keep holding the stick left all the way through the jump.

Videos of this move may be seen on the pages for the above two speed tricks.

BoostR, Thomaz
video

Right when you enter the GFMC Compound at the beginning of the game, it's possible to ghetto jump up to the Missile door area without triggering the cutscene.

If you blow up the box, grab the Missile Launcher, and activate the cutscene afterwards, the box respawns with another Missile Launcher. This allows for 2% from one item, as well as obtaining 10 Missiles instead of 5. If all the items are collected, it's possible to grab a total of 101% items, but the Missile counter cannot reach over 255.

The SDA does allow this glitch, but does not allow it for 100% completion unless you obtain 101% (so you can't skip a random item and claim 100%).

It seems you can also do this trick using a dash (found by kip):

"If anybody hates the 101% jump (like me), but isn't so bad at dashing, you can do it with a dash. It seems to be a bit faster also."

DivX video (kip)

"Walk to the end of the starting ledge with the ship in your view, then use it to scan dash diagonally up-left just before you fall off. The tough part is not hitting the wall to your left. I'm not sure what to do about that, but if you're too far to the right when you dash, I don't think you can land on the ledge. I don't think you can be anywhere past the center.

You can lock on the ship before you reach the end if you want, or wait until the exact moment you have to do the dash to lock on."

UPDATE: I, (Dwaggie Dragonite) have sent in videos of the ending sequence & images of the 101% pause screen and game-load screen. (I asked Nate to host them in his directory, to save more being created...this will most likely be the only upload I give to the site, because I'm *NOT* a good metroid player...at least, to the ranks of Kip, Nolan, Radix, and the rest). Linked below:
Also, I'm sorry about the wobbly video, I was using a small digital camera that can only film a maximum of 20 seconds per file, and I was also trying to keep it steady. Heh. Also, it was played on a 50hertz television, thus the red line/faded lines being seen on the video clips, because of the different framerate refresh of the television and the camera. Oh well, it's the best I could do. Hope this helps!

DJ Grenola

It is possible to bomb jump out of the entrance to the spider guardian's room by means of glitchy spiderball tracks. This trick does not have any sequence breaking value as the game crashes once you shoot the entrance door again.

DivX video (DJ Grenola)

Once the fight starts, hold the control stick in a position somewhere between left and top-left (the exact position of the control stick seems to be a crucial factor, so experiment). Perform a double bomb jump. Once in a while, you will get stuck at the top of your jump on a glitchy section of track. Keep holding the control stick to maintain your position.

One of two cases will apply now:

i) you are close enough to the top that a single bomb jump will get you there. Just jump out, but it is worth laying some extra bombs as you reach the lip of the entrance tunnel just in case you don't quite have the height and find yourself scrabbling on the edge;

ii) you need more than a single bomb jump to get out. In this case, you will have to resort to the first two or three bombs of the TRHbj (it has to be a bomb jump that does not require you to land on the ground, as you will fall through the glitched section - the HBJ and its variants are the only jumps that work).

Similarly glitched bomb jumps can be performed up other tracks in this room. It is useless but possible to obtain the missile expansion during the spider guardian fight by draining half his energy, then using a 3BJ to the glitch and three or all four TRHbj bombs up to the top of the relevant spidertrack. You may then exit the spider guardian fight through the morph ball tunnel by the missile expansion if you wish, and leave the fight arena via the dark beam door without the game crashing. Coming back round and attempting to hit the blue entrance door again, though, will result in a crash.

DivX video (DJ Grenola)

It may be possible to return to the fight area via a TRHbj back into the morph ball tunnel, but this is definitely not easy.

This is a trick enabling Samus to travel large horizontal distances underwater, in a similar vein to the huge leaps possible with the dash jump technique from Metroid Prime 1. This technique is also possible on land, although it does not seem to provide any more distance than a normal space jump.

This description assumes you wish to jump from right to left (i.e. your target for the jump is to your left).

Hold L. Begin strafing to the left. Press and hold R (all the way down) and B while continuing to hold left. Samus will begin to turn to her left. When Samus has turned through about thirty degrees, continue to hold L and R but release the control stick and B (just take both your thumbs off the controller).

Upon removing your thumbs, you should find that Samus continues to fly through the water in much the same way as for the original dash jump.
For the second (space) jump, continue to hold L and R and just tap B. Don't adjust the control stick or press anything else or you may lose momentum.

The Ghetto Jump (which was named by Kip) is a move used to achieve greater jump heights than usual by means of using a wall and holding L to lock your veiw. When jumping, press against or just barely touch a wall. There are different variations of this jump, such as holding L for a certain amount of time or jumping into a crack to force yourself upwards. It all depends on your surroundings.

In Prime only, the Ghetto Jump is most noticable when you execute this trick underwater, while still being hindered by the affects of water. Extremely high distances have been recorded. Some hindered single jumps have even matched the height of regular, unhindered space jumps. This strange underwater affect was removed in Echoes.
